German Pork and Dumpling Stew
A hearty German stew made with tender pork and fluffy dumplings. Perfect for a cold winter night.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Pork shouldercut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 cups All-purpose flour
- β2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 medium Carrotpeeled and chopped
- β2 stalks Celerychopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β6 slices Baconcut into 1-inch pieces
- β4 cups Chicken broth
- β1 package Dumpling mixaccording to package instructions

Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the pork and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the bacon to the pot and cook until crispy, about 3 minutes.

Add the chicken broth to the pot and bring to a boil.

Return the pork to the pot and reduce the heat to low.

Simmer the stew for 1 1/2 hours, or until the pork is tender.

While the stew is cooking, prepare the dumplings according to the package instructions.

When the stew is done, add the dumplings to the pot and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
