Thai-Style Smoked Pork Bao
A fusion of Thai and Chinese flavors in a crispy bao bun filled with smoked pork.
Ingredients
- β1 pound (450g) intensely smoky porkSmoked pork shoulder, thinly sliced
- β2 cups (250g) masarepaColombian cornmeal dough for bao buns
- β4-6 pieces baoPre-made bao buns or homemade
- β1 head chinese cabbageThinly sliced
- β2 tablespoons thai chili sauceOptional, for added heat
- β1 tablespoon fish sauceFor added umami flavor
- β2 tablespoons lime juiceFreshly squeezed
- β1 tablespoon palm sugarOptional, for added sweetness

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Bake the bao buns for 10-12 minutes or until crispy.

In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat.

Add the sliced smoky pork and cook until crispy.

In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat.

Add the thinly sliced Chinese cabbage and cook until softened.

To assemble the bao, place a spoonful of the pork and cabbage mixture onto a bao bun.
