Agedashi Tofu in Spicy Thai Broth
A twist on the classic Japanese dish, agedashi tofu is served in a spicy Thai-inspired broth with intense flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 block (14 oz) tofu
- β1 cup agedashi flour
- β2 cups vegetable oil
- β4 cloves garlic
- β2 inches ginger
- β4 cups chicken broth
- β2 tbsp fish sauce
- β2 tbsp Thai red curry paste
- β1 tsp sugar
- β2 tbsp lime juice

Cut the tofu into small cubes and coat with agedashi flour.

Heat 1 cup of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

Add the tofu and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.

Remove the tofu from the oil and set aside.

In the same pot, add the minced garlic and grated ginger and sautΓ© until fragrant.

Add the chicken broth, fish sauce, Thai red curry paste, and sugar. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add the fried tofu back into the pot and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Stir in the lime juice and season with salt to taste.

Serve the agedashi tofu in the spicy Thai broth and garnish with chopped cilantro, if desired.
