Baked Portuguese Lasagna
A rich and indulgent Portuguese-inspired take on the classic Italian lasagna, loaded with flavorful cheese and meat.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β8-10 sheets Lasagna Noodles
- β1 cup shredded Portuguese Cheesesuch as Queijo de Cabra
- β1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- β1 cup Ricotta Cheese
- β1 medium, diced Onion
- β3 cloves, minced Garlic
- β2 cups Tomato Saucehomemade or store-bought
- β1/4 cup chopped Fresh Parsley
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the tomato sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook while you prepare the cheese mixture.

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Portuguese cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.

Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Repeat the layers, starting with the meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and finally the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
