Crispy Chicken Tagine
A rich and flavorful North African-inspired dish with crispy chicken and a sweet and spicy sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken breastcut into 8 pieces
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor frying
- β1 large onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1-inch piece gingergrated
- β1 teaspoon cuminground
- β1 teaspoon corianderground
- β1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepperoptional
- β1 teaspoon saltto taste
- β1 teaspoon black pepperto taste
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.

Add 1 cup of water to the skillet and bring to a boil.

Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer, covered, until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.

Serve the chicken hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or cilantro (if desired).
