Classic British Apple Pie
A traditional British dessert made with a flaky crust and tender apples. Perfect for a cold evening.
Ingredients
- ●3 large apples
- ●1 cup mash
- ●2 cups all-purpose flour
- ●1 cup cold unsalted butter
- ●1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
- 3
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and mash. Add the cold butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- 5
Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish and trim the edges to fit.
- 6
Fill the pie crust with the chopped apples and dot the top with a little bit of butter.
- 7
Roll out the remaining dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch and use it to cover the pie.
- 8
Crimp the edges to seal the pie and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- 9
Bake the pie for 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- 10
Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
