Brazilian Black Bean Fritters
A delicious and crispy Brazilian-inspired fritter dish made with black beans, perfect as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
- β1 (15 ounce) can, drained and rinsed Black Beans
- β1/2 cup, shredded (Monterey Jack or similar cheese) Indulgent
- β1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- β2 eggs
- β1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- β2 cloves garlic, minced
- β1 teaspoon cumin
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon pepper
- β1/2 cup, for frying vegetable oil

1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans using a fork or a potato masher.

2. Add the shredded cheese, flour, eggs, onion, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix well.

3. Using your hands, shape the mixture into small fritters, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.

4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

5. When the oil is hot, add a few fritters to the skillet (do not overcrowd).

6. Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.

7. Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
