Herbal Shaggy Tagine Chicken
A flavorful Italian-inspired dish with chicken, herbal spices, and a tangy tamarind sauce, all slow-cooked in a traditional tagine.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken thighsbone-in, skin-on
- β2 tablespoons algerian spicesa blend of herbs and spices
- β1/4 cup shaggy parmesanshaved or grated
- β2 tablespoons tamarind pasteor to taste
- β2 tablespoons herbal olive oilinfused with herbs
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 medium onionchopped

Preheat the tagine or a large Dutch oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Season the chicken with Algerian spices, salt, and pepper.

Heat the herbal olive oil in the preheated tagine over medium heat.

Add the garlic and onion to the tagine and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the chicken to the tagine, skin side up, and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the tamarind paste, shaggy parmesan, and 1 cup of chicken broth to the tagine.
