Thai Chicken Braise
A flavorful and aromatic Thai-inspired braise made with tender chicken, crispy herbs, and a hint of spice.
Ingredients
- β1 lb chicken breastBoneless and skinless
- β2 tbsp Thai herbal mixtureAvailable at most Asian markets
- β1/2 cup crumbly tofuOptional
- β1 tsp crushed Thai chiliesAdjust to taste
- β2 tbsp fish sauceOr to taste
- β2 tbsp soy sauceOr to taste
- β1 tsp brown sugarOptional
- β2 tbsp coconut oilFor braising
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add chicken and sear until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Add Thai herbal mixture and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add crumbly tofu (if using) and cook until lightly browned.

Add chilies, fish sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar (if using). Stir to combine.

Return chicken to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.

Braise at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
