Paneer Tikka Masala
A popular Indian dish made with marinated paneer in a rich tomato sauce. Serve with basmati rice or naan.
Ingredients
- β250g paneercubed
- β2 tablespoons tikka masala spice blend
- β1 cup yogurtdiluted with 1 cup water
- β2 tablespoons lemon juice
- β1 teaspoon garam masala
- β1 teaspoon cumin powder
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β2 tomatoescanned, diced
- β1 onionmedium, diced
- β2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil

1. In a large bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt. Add the cubed paneer and mix well to coat.

2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.

3. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the paneer from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off.

4. Add the paneer to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

5. Remove the paneer from the skillet and set aside.

6. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil. Add the diced onion and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

7. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tikka masala spice blend, and 1 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

8. Add the cooked paneer back to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.

9. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.

10. Serve the paneer tikka masala hot, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
