Saudi Arabian Date Biryani
A traditional Saudi dish made with aromatic spices, fluffy rice, and sweet dates. This recipe is a delicious twist on the classic biryani.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Fluffy basmati rice
- β10-12 Saudi dates
- β1/2 teaspoon Heavenly saffronsoaked in 2 tablespoons of hot water
- β1/2 teaspoon Arabian cardamom
- β2 tablespoons Ghee or vegetable oil
- β2 cups Water
Instructions

Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.

Heat the ghee or oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the saffron and its soaking water to the saucepan and cook for 1 minute.

Add the cardamom to the saucepan and cook for another minute.

Add the soaked rice to the saucepan and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.

While the rice is cooking, heat a separate saucepan over medium heat.

Add the dates to the saucepan and cook for 2-3 minutes or until they are softened.

Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and mix in the cooked dates.
