Filipino-Style Leche Flan
A rich and creamy Filipino-inspired dessert made with eggs, sugar, and leche flan. Perfect for special occasions and parties.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 cups leche
- β1 cup granulated sugar
- β4 large eggs
- β1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- β1 cup milk
- β1 (14 oz) can flan
- β1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C).
- 2
In a medium saucepan, combine the leche, granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup of the milk. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- 3
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, and remaining 3/4 cup of milk.
- 4
Gradually add the hot leche mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the eggs from scrambling.
- 5
Pour the mixture into 6 (1/2 cup) ramekins or small baking dishes.
- 6
Place the ramekins in a large baking dish and add hot water to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
- 7
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly jiggly.
- 8
Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let cool to room temperature.
- 9
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 10
To serve, run a knife around the edges of each ramekin and invert onto plates. Garnish with a sprinkle of granulated sugar, if desired.
