Heavenly Egyptian Chicken Tagine
A traditional North African dish made with chicken and spices, cooked to perfection in a clay pot. This recipe is inspired by the flavors of Egypt and Morocco.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastboneless and skinless
- β1 cup heavenly riceshort-grain rice
- β2 tablespoons egyptian spicesa blend of cumin, coriander, and cinnamon
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor cooking the chicken and rice
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 cups chicken brothlow-sodium
- β1 cup waterfor cooking the rice
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in the clay pot over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken breast and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add the egyptian spices, chicken broth, water, salt, and black pepper.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.

Add the heavenly rice to the pot and stir to combine.

Return the pot to the heat and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.

Serve the tagine hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
