Italian Braised Lamb Shanks
Fall-off-the-bone tender lamb shanks in a rich and hearty Italian-inspired sauce. Perfect for a special occasion or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
- β4 Lamb shanks
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β1 large Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β1 cup Hearty red wine
- β1 cup Chicken broth
- β2 teaspoons Rogan josh spice blend
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Season the lamb shanks with salt and black pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the lamb shanks until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the lamb from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the red wine and chicken broth to the pot, scraping up any browned bits.

Add the rogan josh spice blend and tomato paste to the pot.

Return the lamb shanks to the pot and bring to a boil.

Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.
