Croatian Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful Mexican stew made with Croatian beef, garlic, and gooey sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Croatian beef stew meatCut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 tablespoons Gooey sauceHomemade or store-bought
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 tablespoons Tomato paste
- β1 teaspoon Chili powder
- β1 teaspoon Cumin
- β1 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- β2 cups WaterAdditional as needed

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add the water to the pot and bring to a boil.

Return the beef to the pot and reduce heat to low.

Simmer, covered, for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Stir in the gooey sauce and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
