Traditional British Beef Shin Stew
A hearty, comforting stew made with slow-cooked beef shin, perfect for a cold winter's day.
Ingredients
- β1.5 kg Beef shinCut into 2 inch pieces
- β2 tsp Festive spicesA mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves
- β2 tbsp Gooey brown gravy mix
- β1 cup British stout beer
- β1 large OnionChopped
- β2 medium CarrotSliced
- β2 large PotatoChopped

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef shin pieces in batches, then set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened.

Add the sliced carrots and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the chopped potato, festive spices, and brown gravy mix. Stir to combine.

Add the browned beef shin back to the pot, along with the stout beer.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and transfer to the oven.

Braise the stew for 2.5 hours, or until the meat is tender.
