Syrian Pilaf with Crispy Rice
A flavorful Middle Eastern-inspired pilaf made with tender Syrian rice and crispy rice at the bottom.
Ingredients
- ●1 cup Syrian rice
- ●1 cup Basmati rice
- ●1 cup, diced Gently cooked chicken (optional)cook with 1 tsp olive oil at 165°F (74°C)
- ●1/2 cup Crisp ricecook in a pan with 1 tsp olive oil at 325°F (165°C)
- ●2 tbsp Olive oil
- ●1 medium, diced Onion
- ●2 cloves, minced Garlic
- ●1 tsp Salt
- ●1/2 tsp Black pepper
- ●1/2 tsp Pilaf spice
Instructions

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent.

Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add 1 cup Syrian rice and 1 cup Basmati rice. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add 2 cups water, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tsp pilaf spice. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

While the rice is cooking, cook the crisp rice in a pan with 1 tsp olive oil at 325°F (165°C) for 5-7 minutes or until crispy.

If using chicken, cook in a pan with 1 tsp olive oil at 165°F (74°C) for 5-7 minutes or until cooked through.

Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork to separate the grains.

To serve, place a portion of the pilaf in a bowl, top with crispy rice, and garnish with diced chicken (if using).
