Musakhan Wraps with Mung Bean Sprouts
A comfort food twist on traditional Musakhan, this dish combines crispy sumac-spiced chicken with tender mung bean sprouts, all wrapped in a warm pita.
Ingredients
- β1 pound chicken breastcut into bite-sized pieces
- β1 cup mung bean sproutsrinsed and drained
- β2 tablespoons Musakhan spice blendavailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor cooking
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β4-6 pita breadwarm, wrapped individually
- β1 teaspoon sumacfor garnish

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together Musakhan spice blend, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken and toss to coat.

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Add the mung bean sprouts to the skillet and cook until tender, about 3-4 minutes.

Return the chicken to the skillet and stir to combine with the mung bean sprouts and onion mixture.

Warm the pita bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven for 5-7 minutes.

Assemble the wraps by spooning the chicken and mung bean sprouts mixture onto a warmed pita bread and garnishing with sumac.
