Vietnamese Pork Cha Buns
A crispy fried bun filled with savory Vietnamese-style pork cha, served with a side of fresh herbs.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground pork80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β1 package Bun (Vietnamese bread)preferably fresh
- β1 large Onionfinely chopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons Fish sauceor to taste
- β1 tablespoon Soy sauceor to taste
- β1 tablespoon Brown sugaror to taste
- β1/4 cup Coconut milkor to taste

1. Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and coconut milk. Mix well with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined.

3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a small ball.

4. Roll each ball between your hands to flatten slightly into a disk shape.

5. Place the disks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between each.

6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cha is cooked through and slightly caramelized.

7. While the cha is baking, toast the Vietnamese bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven for 5-7 minutes.

8. Assemble the cha buns by placing a piece of toasted bread on a plate, then adding a few pieces of the baked cha on top.

9. Garnish with fresh herbs, such as cilantro or mint, and serve immediately.
