Uruguayan Beef Empanadas
A classic Uruguayan dish featuring savory beef empanadas filled with ground beef and spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon Cuminground
- β1/2 teaspoon Paprikaground
- βto taste Salt
- β2 tablespoons Fermentyoptional
- β1/4 cup Crumbly Cheeseoptional

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the cumin, paprika, and salt to the pan and stir to combine.

If using, add the fermenty and stir to combine.

If using, sprinkle the crumbly cheese over the top of the beef mixture and stir to combine.

Roll out the empanada dough and cut out circles of dough.

Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto the center of each dough circle and fold the dough over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with egg wash.

Bake the empanadas for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
