Beef Stew with Ukrainian Twist
A hearty beef stew with a Ukrainian twist, combining traditional beef stew ingredients with the unique flavor of fermented cabbage.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Beef Stew Meat (1.5 lbs)
- β1 cup Fermented Cabbage (1 cup)
- β1 medium Onion (1 medium)
- β2 medium Carrots (2 medium)
- β2 medium Potatoes (2 medium)
- β2 cups Beef Broth (2 cups)
- β2 tbsp Tomato Paste (2 tbsp)
- βto taste Salt (to taste)
- βto taste Black Pepper (to taste)
- β1/4 cup Gooey Cheese (1/4 cup, optional)optional

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set it aside. Add the onion, carrots, and potatoes to the pot and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.

Add the beef broth, tomato paste, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring the stew to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, until the beef is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.

Stir in the fermented cabbage and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
