Makham Greek Borek
Sweet and chewy Greek borek filled with a tangy makham and tamarind paste.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Makhamdried
- β1 package Greek filo doughthawed
- β2 tablespoons Tamarind pastesee notes
- β1 tablespoon Honeyoptional
- β1/2 cup Fermented yogurtplain
- β1 tablespoon Chewy sugaror to taste
- β2 tablespoons Wateras needed
- β1/4 cup Vegetable oilfor brushing
- β1 tablespoon Powdered sugarfor dusting (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Thaw the filo dough according to package instructions.

Cut the filo dough into 4 equal pieces.

In a bowl, mix together the makham, tamarind paste, honey, fermented yogurt, chewy sugar, and water.

Place a piece of filo dough on a flat surface and brush with vegetable oil.

Place 1/4 cup of the makham mixture in the center of the filo dough.

Fold the filo dough over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges to seal.

Repeat with the remaining filo dough and filling.

Place the borek on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
