Crispy Duck Tagine
A flavorful and aromatic stew originating from Venezuela, made with crispy duck and a blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β1 duck breast4-6 lbs
- β2 tbsp olive oilfor frying
- β1 onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 tsp extraordinary spice blendsee notes
- β1 tsp saltto taste
- β1/2 tsp black pepperto taste
- β2 cups chicken brothhomemade or store-bought
- β1 cup dateschopped
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Season the duck breast with salt, black pepper, and 1 tsp of the extraordinary spice blend.

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the duck breast for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned. Transfer the duck to a baking sheet and set aside.

In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.

Add the chopped dates, chicken broth, and remaining 1 tsp of the extraordinary spice blend to the skillet. Stir to combine.

Return the duck breast to the skillet and make sure it's mostly submerged in the sauce.

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the duck is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Serve the duck breast with the tagine sauce spooned over the top.
