Thai Harees Biryani
A unique Thai twist on the traditional Indian harees dish, with the addition of aromatic spices and fresh herbs. This flavorful one-pot meal is perfect for a special occasion.
Ingredients
- β250g harees
- β100g wheat bread
- β2 tsp exotic spice mix
- β1 tsp floral chili flakes
- β1 tsp middle eastern sumac
- β2 tbsp coconut oil
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β1/4 cup Thai basil
- βto taste salt
Instructions

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for another minute.

Add harees, bread, spice mix, chili flakes, sumac, and salt. Stir well.

Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.

Stir in Thai basil and cook for another 5 minutes.

Fluff the harees mixture with a fork and serve hot.

Garnish with additional Thai basil and serve with a side of raita or chutney if desired.
