Ukrainian Apple Pie
A traditional Ukrainian-style apple pie with a flaky pastry crust, perfect for a cozy dessert.
Ingredients

- β Pastry dough (homemade or store-bought)
- β Granulated sugar (1 cup)
- β All-purpose flour (1 cup)
- β Cinnamon (1/2 tsp)
- β Lemon zest (1 tsp)
- β Lemon juice (1 tbsp)
- β Egg (beaten, 1)
- β Unsalted butter (1/4 cup, melted)
- β Water (1 tbsp)

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the pastry dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture and dot the top with the beaten egg.

Roll out the remaining pastry dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

Use a pastry cutter or a knife to create a decorative border.

Place the border on top of the pie and crimp the edges to seal.

Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
