Traditional Ukrainian Casserole
A hearty, comforting casserole inspired by Ukrainian cuisine, made with tender beef, rich sauce, and a crispy crust.
Ingredients

- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 medium Carrotspeeled and grated
- β1 can (14 oz) Canned diced tomatoesdrained
- β2 tablespoons Mirinsweet Japanese cooking wine
- β1 cup Dense breadcrumbspan-fried until golden
- β1 large Eggbeaten

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and grated carrots to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender.

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, mirin, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture, beaten egg, and pan-fried breadcrumbs.

Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and smooth the top.
