Uruguayan Empanadas with a German Twist
A delicious twist on traditional empanadas, filled with crumbly cheese and a hint of German flavor.
Ingredients
- β1 block (225g) uruguayan cheese
- β2 cups all-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- β2 eggs
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- β1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and black pepper.

Add in the cold butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add in the water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead a few times until smooth.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces.

Roll out each piece into a thin circle.

Place a tablespoon of uruguayan cheese in the center of each circle.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-circle and press the edges together to seal.
