Smoked Haddock Harees
A traditional Middle Eastern dish made with smoked haddock and harees, perfect for a comforting breakfast
Ingredients
- β2 Smoked Haddock Filletsfresh and of good quality
- β2 cups Hareespreferably homemade
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 inches Gingergrated
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1/4 cup Cilantrochopped
- βto taste Saltpreferably sea salt
- βto taste Black Pepperfreshly ground
- β2 tablespoons Lemon Juicefreshly squeezed
Instructions

Rinse the smoked haddock fillets under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until it's translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the grated ginger and minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring constantly.

Add the harees and 4 cups of water to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add the smoked haddock fillets to the pot and cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until they're cooked through.

Stir in the chopped cilantro, salt, and black pepper.

Squeeze the lemon juice over the top and serve hot.
