Greek Pastitsio
A classic Greek pasta bake, rich and decadent with layers of ground beef, tomato sauce, and creamy bechamel.
Ingredients
- β1 lb ground beef
- β1 box pasta (macaroni)
- β2 cups tomato sauce
- β2 cups bechamel sauce
- β1 cup grated kefalograviera cheese
- β2 tbsp butter
- β2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook pasta according to package instructions.

In a large pan, cook ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces.

Once browned, add tomato sauce and stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 5 minutes.

In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Add flour and whisk to combine, cooking for 1 minute.

Slowly add bechamel sauce and stir until thickened.

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, create a layer of pasta.

Follow with a layer of meat sauce, then a layer of bechamel sauce.

Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of bechamel sauce on top.

Sprinkle kefalograviera cheese over the top.

Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
