Argentinian Garlic Beef Empanadas
A classic South American pastry filled with seasoned ground beef and spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground beef
- β2 tablespoons Dark brown sugar
- β2 cloves Crumbled garlic
- β1 tablespoon Dark sugar
- β1 tablespoon Argentinian seasoning blend
- β2 cups All-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup Cold unsalted butter
- β1 large egg Egg
- β1/4 teaspoon Salt
- β1/2 cup Water

1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, brown sugar, crumbled garlic, and argentinian seasoning blend. Mix well with your hands until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

3. In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the beef mixture and mix until a dough forms.

4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

5. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten slightly into a disk shape.

6. Place a tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each disk. Brush the edges with a little water and fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges together with a fork to seal.

7. Brush the tops of the empanadas with egg and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.

8. Bake the empanadas for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
