Eastern Harees
Traditional Middle Eastern dish made with wheat and often served at breakfast or dinner. This recipe serves 4-6 people and is relatively easy to make.
Ingredients
- β2 cups Wheat
- β1 cup Harees
- β2 tsp Eastern spices (e.g., cumin, coriander)
- β1/4 cup Crunchy onions (for garnish)
- βto taste Salt
- β4 cups Water

Rinse the wheat and soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Combine the soaked wheat, harees, spices, and salt in a large pot.

Gradually add the remaining 4 cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1-2 hours or until the mixture thickens.

Strain the mixture and discard the solids.

Return the mixture to the pot and cook for another 30 minutes or until it reaches a porridge-like consistency.

Garnish with crunchy onions and serve hot.
