Lamb Tagine with Cozy Spices
A hearty, comforting lamb tagine with warm, aromatic spices. Serve with fluffy basmati rice and naan bread.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 lbs lamb shouldercut into 2-inch pieces
- β2 tbsp coconut oilfor browning lamb
- β1 large onionchopped
- β2 inches gingergrated
- β1 tsp cumin seedswhole
- β2 tsp coriander powder
- β1 tsp turmeric powder
- β1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- β1 tsp salt
- β2 cups water

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown lamb pieces in batches until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove lamb from pot and set aside.

Reduce heat to medium and add cumin seeds; let sizzle for 1 minute.

Add onion, ginger, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and salt; cook until onion is lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

Add browned lamb back to pot and stir to coat with spice mixture.

Add water to pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, until lamb is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
