Smoked Pilchard Tagine
A French-inspired dish that combines the flavors of North Africa with the richness of smoked pilchards.
Ingredients
- β4-6 fillets Smoked Pilchardslook for high-quality, responsibly sourced smoked pilchards
- β2 tablespoons Olive oil
- β1 medium Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 tablespoons Classicuse a combination of classic spices for depth of flavor
- β1 can Pilcharddrained and rinsed
- β2 tablespoons Lemon juicefreshly squeezed
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black pepper
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the classic spices and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Add the pilchards and cook for 2-3 minutes, until they start to flake apart.

Add the lemon juice and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the pilchards are cooked through.
