Lamb and Citrus Portuguese Roast
A delicious and flavorful roast lamb dish infused with citrus and traditional Portuguese spices.
Ingredients
- ●1.5 kg Lamb Shoulderbone-in
- ●2 tbsp Citrusy Herb Mixequal parts lemon zest, oregano, thyme
- ●1 loaf Fluffy Portuguese Breadfor serving
- ●2 tbsp Olive Oil
- ●1 tsp Salt
- ●1 tsp Black Pepper
- ●1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakesoptional
- ●3 cloves Garlicminced
- ●1/4 cup Lemon Juice
- ●2 tbsp Port Wineoptional

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

Season the lamb shoulder with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the lamb shoulder until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Transfer the lamb shoulder to a large roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix together the citrusy herb mix, garlic, and lemon juice. Brush the mixture all over the lamb shoulder.

Return the lamb shoulder to the oven and continue roasting for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the lamb reaches an internal temperature of 63°C (145°F) for medium-rare.

Remove the lamb shoulder from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Serve the lamb shoulder with fluffy Portuguese bread and a drizzle of port wine (if using).
