Gratin Poutine mit Canadian Bacon
A German twist on the classic Canadian poutine dish, topped with a crispy gratin and juicy bacon.
Ingredients
- β1 (250g) package Canadian Bacon
- β2-3 large potatoes Juicy Potatoespeeled and cut into 1/2-inch thick rounds
- β1 cup grated Emmental Gratin Cheese
- β1/4 cup chopped Fresh Chivesoptional
- β2 tablespoons Butter
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper

Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

In a large pot of salted water, boil the potato slices until they are slightly tender, about 5 minutes.

Drain the potatoes and set them aside.

In a large skillet, cook the Canadian bacon over medium heat until it is crispy and golden brown.

Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.

In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt.

Arrange a layer of potatoes in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Top the potatoes with a layer of Canadian bacon, followed by a layer of grated cheese.

Repeat the layers one more time, ending with a layer of cheese on top.

Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Remove the gratin from the oven and sprinkle with chopped chives if desired.
