Charred Chicken Tagine
A flavorful North African-inspired dish featuring charred chicken cooked in a rich tagine sauce with semolina and algerian spices.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds chicken breastcut into 8 pieces
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor charred chicken
- β2 tablespoons semolinaground almonds can be substituted
- β1 tablespoon algerian spice blendor substitute with a mix of cumin, coriander, and cinnamon
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh parsleyfor garnish
- β1 teaspoon saltto taste
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepperto taste
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

Season the chicken with salt and pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken until browned on both sides, then transfer to a baking sheet.

Char the chicken in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.

In the same skillet, add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the semolina and cook for 1-2 minutes, until lightly toasted.

Add the algerian spice blend and cook for 1 minute.

Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Shred the chicken and add to the skillet. Stir to combine with the tagine sauce.

Garnish with parsley and serve over couscous or rice.
