Braised Chuck Roast
A hearty, comforting dish of slow-cooked chuck roast in a rich, flavorful sauce.
Ingredients
- β2 pounds Chuck Roast
- β2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β1 teaspoon Ginger
- β2 tablespoons Fish Sauce
- β1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
- β1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- β1 whole Star Anise
- β2 sticks Cinnamon Sticks
- β2 cups Water

Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the chuck roast until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove the chuck roast from the pot and set aside.

Add the garlic, ginger, fish sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar to the pot.

Stir to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the star anise and cinnamon sticks to the pot.

Add the water to the pot and bring to a boil.

Return the chuck roast to the pot and cover with a lid.

Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and braise for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Strain the sauce through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean saucepan.
