A traditional German dessert, this strudel is filled with sweet blackberries and topped with a crunchy streusel topping.
Ingredients
- β2 cups blackberries
- β1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- β1 cup granulated sugar
- β1/2 cup cold unsalted butter
- β1 large eggs
- β1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- β1/4 cup treat
- β2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
- β2 tablespoons tangy
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla extract, and treat. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- 5
In a separate bowl, mix together blackberries, sugar, and tangy.
- 6
Spread the blackberry mixture over the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- 7
Fold the edges of the dough up over the filling, pressing gently to seal.
- 8
Brush the top of the strudel with a little bit of water and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
- 9
Place the strudel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 10
Remove the strudel from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
