German Braised Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful German-style beef stew made with tender beef, aromatic vegetables, and a rich red wine sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef stew meat
- β1 large onion, 2 cloves aromatic (onion, carrot, celery)
- β2 medium sweet (red bell pepper)
- β1 cup red wine
- β2 cups beef broth
- β1 can stew (tomato)
- β2 tablespoons flour
- βto taste pepper
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion, carrot, and celery to the pot and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the red bell pepper and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Add the red wine to the pot and bring to a boil, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

Return the beef to the pot and add the beef broth, stew, and flour.

Bring the stew to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Braise the stew in the preheated oven for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
