Slovakian Pork Stew
A hearty, comforting Slovakian-inspired pork stew made with tender pork and root vegetables.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound pork shouldercut into 2-inch cubes
- ●2 cups slovakian stewavailable at most European grocery stores
- ●1 medium onionchopped
- ●2 medium carrotchopped
- ●2 stalks celerychopped
- ●2 cloves aromaticminced garlic
- ●2 cups densebeef broth
- ●1/2 cup sour creamoptional

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the pork cubes on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the pork from the pot and set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sauté the onion, carrot, and celery until the vegetables are tender.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the Slovakian stew and beef broth to the pot, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.

Return the pork to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, or until the pork is tender.
