Lamb Tagine with German Twist
A classic North African lamb tagine with a twist of German flavors, featuring aromatic spices and a charred, smoky taste.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs Lamb ShoulderCut into 2-inch pieces
- β1 large OnionsChopped
- β3 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tbsp Tunisian ChermoulaReady-made or homemade
- β1/2 cup German BeerDark beer such as Bock or Schwarzbier
- β1 tsp Aromatic SpicesMixed spice blend (cinnamon, cumin, coriander)
- βto taste Salt and Pepper
- β2 Charred LemonsSliced and charred over an open flame

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Sear the lamb pieces until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add onions to the pot and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.

Add garlic, chermoula, beer, and aromatic spices to the pot. Stir to combine.

Return the lamb to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.

Bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 1/2 hours, or until the lamb is tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
