Japanese-Style Cake
A delicious and light Japanese-inspired cake made with aerated Portuguese meal and perfect for dessert.
Ingredients
- β250g Portuguese meal
- β4 Aerated eggs
- β200g Granulated sugar
- β120g Melted unsalted butterat room temperature
- β2 tsp Vanilla extract
- β1 tsp Baking powder
- β1/2 tsp Salt

Preheat the oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F) and grease a 20cm (8-inch) round cake pan.

Sift together the Portuguese meal, sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl.

In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the cake is completely cool, slice and serve.
